Fictional character : Morpheus" Yet their strength and their speed are still based in a world that is built on rules."
These are the rules, if you can take a picture of it or amplify/record the sound, then its real.
Otherwise it is imagination.
Visual Hallucinations? Get a Camera.
Take pictures. Is it really there?
Audio Hallucinations? Get an amplifier.
An amplifier like the hard of hearing use. If it can be amplified, then it is real. The sound can be recorded and measured. Anything else is a fiction.
In the near future I plan to write of sound amplification you can do yourself to identify real from imagined sounds.
In the mean time you can listen to sounds at http://www.freesound.org/
Sounds like this one TONE white noise 44.1 16bit.wav
Additional: I need a contrasting medium to judge value. For example in seeing the color red, you need other colors nearby, or else the color red is subjective.

I need this for sound as well, so I have a clock that makes a quiet ticking noise to give contrast value of the sound ( or lack of sound) I hear in my apartment. If the ticking gets irritating, I can leave or take the battery out of the clock.

Hi Mark - Thank you very much for helping me with the dark computer monitor. I left you a message to your comment.
I needed one of my sons to show me as I am technically challenged. Now truing to get it exact. It was dark so long that everything looks pale now by comparison and not sure of settings.
I didn't realize everyone may have different settings on their computers and so perhaps I should be careful when I play around with blog colors. :)
I couldn't see backgrounds in my photographs either. Now I can. :)
Thanks again!
I'm glad I could give you information to help!
